The Montessori Children's House of Peoria celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2007. We offer Primary, Kindergarten, and Elementary classes for children ages 3-12.
Here, you will find information on what A Montessori Education is all about, as well as a short history of Our School.
Ours was a house for children, rather than a school. We had prepared a place for children where structure could be assimilated from the environment, without any need for direct instruction. We saw them absorb more than reading and writing: botany, zoology, mathematics, geography, and all with the same ease, spontaneously and without getting tired. We discovered that education is not something that the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being.
