April 2010 Newsletter
Dear Montessori Parent,
We hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break, filled with what joys of the season were available wherever you were throughout the week. We are sorry to be getting this newsletter to you late, but we did want to communicate a few things still this month…
Thank you so much to all the parents and staff who helped out at our lovely Spring Bazaar last month, particularly Jen Bernhard and Ed Nehrig, Jennifer Essig, Mona Taher, Michelle Miller, Dione Gresham, and Earl Power Murphy. We had so many vendors with so many beautiful items, and it was evident that everyone there had a great time. It made us very proud. The baked goods and artwork that were sold for Haiti made over $578 for relief, and that went to Friends of the Children of Haiti, a local group. Also, with the various raffles, the bazaar organizers were able to donate $280 to the school, which enabled us, immediately, to purchase yoga mats for the children! Thanks again to everyone who helped. We look forward to this event again next year…
Don’t forget that next week is Culture Week, in which we’re inviting our school families from around the world to come in and talk with us about their culture. A sign-up is posted outside the Office for those who are interested in sharing with us sometime that week. We would love to have several different presentations from around the world! Speak to Mr. MC in the Office if you have any questions. And don’t forget, our Elementary Cultural History Fair is on that Thursday, the 22nd. Primary parents may visit the fair from 11:00 until 12:30 or from 2:45 until 3:00.
On Friday of next week we will be having some activities for the children to celebrate Earth Day (which is officially Thursday). Brian and Anita Poeppel have generously volunteered to come in again and work with the children that day. We’re not yet sure what they have planned, but we’re sure it will be a very nice way for the children to celebrate our planet.
Summer Program registration forms for Primary ages are available outside the Office if you still need one. Also, if you did not get a Pre-registration form for next year, those are available, as well. We are asking that Pre-registration forms be turned in by April 30 to ensure your child’s spot for next year.
Coming up in May we have some important dates to consider. Our Drama Class play will be Wednesday, May 5th, at 7:00 pm, if you would like to attend. Our Spring Program is set for Friday, May 14th, also at 7:00 pm. Our all-school Olympics is Wednesday, the 26th, in the morning. And, of course, our last day of school, with our picnic following, is Friday, the 28th.
Thank you,
The Montessori Staff
