Dear Montessori Parent,

Happy New Year! It’s good to be back…

We would like to thank our parents who were in charge of running the Book Fair last month, particularly Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer, and Michelle. They all put in a lot of hard work, and we appreciate it. Also, we’d like to thank everyone who made donations to their classroom through the fair.

Starting this month our Elementary classes will have the pleasure to host a student teacher from Bradley, Earl Power Murphy. Earl (Mr. Murphy) is the older brother of two of our former students, Joe and Jack Power-Wayvon; and he also worked as our gym teacher for a year in the past. We are happy to have him back, and we look forward to learning from him this semester, as he will surely learn from our wonderful Elementary teachers and students.

The Upper Elementary class would like to thank you for your purchase of gingerbread houses. They labored intensely in the kitchen for a week to get them made. They are definitely looking forward to their trip to St. Louis in the Spring!

Our classrooms continue to have need of donations of easily-served fruits and vegetables for their snack tables. However, we no longer have need of baby carrots. Instead, when bringing in snacks, please send in whole unpeeled carrots for the peeling work in the classroom. Feel free to check with your child’s teacher about when snacks are needed.

Also, we’d like to urge you to continue to pack a healthy lunch for your child each day. It is very important that you not include candy or sugar-filled foods with their meal, no matter how much your child tells you that they prefer it. Packing a nutritious and delicious lunch for your child’s day at school is one of the most direct influences you can have on his/her health and behavior, and it is an excellent model for lifelong healthy eating habits.

A New Year of Peace for us all…
