September 2009 Newsletter

Dear Montessori Parent,
Well, we have had a terrific start to a new school year. It’s so nice to see all the familiar faces and to meet so many new ones. We look forward to this being such a pleasant and productive year.

Please make sure you have turned in all the necessary forms and payments to the office. (There is a checklist available outside the office which lists everything that you need to have turned in.) Please remember that every new student needs to have a physical exam and proof of immunizations. Also, September tuition payments are now due, so if we have only received your initial deposit we need another payment for September. (This applies to returning students, as well, of course.) And, please make sure the office is aware of any dietary restrictions for your child.

This year we are returning to our original policy regarding snacks. We will accept donations of fruit and baby carrots as well as unsweetened, natural fruit juice for use as a snack in the classroom. Suggested fruits are apples and bananas, as always, but grapes and cherry tomatoes would also be a nice alternative. Dried fruits are also acceptable. Normally, these snacks are provided for the children to use at their discretion at their classroom snack table. Please do check with your child’s teacher about donating fruit, carrots, or fruit juice for the class throughout the year. When the teachers introduce the carrot work later on, we will then happily accept the big carrots.

We’d like to thank all the parents who volunteered for an upcoming event or duty these past few days. We will be in touch with you when that particular event approaches. Of course, there will always be more opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, so if you missed signing up now, you’ll have other chances. We do ask that parents try to volunteer for at least one event each year.

If anyone has any plants they would like to donate to the school, even just for the colder months, feel free to speak with your child’s teacher. We always appreciate having more green life in the classrooms!

Preschool Spanish will begin on September 23rd, and music for all grades will begin on the 15th.

Lastly, be on the lookout for Parent Handbooks, which will be available in the next week or so. If you are a new parent or haven’t gotten one yet, be sure to pick one up when we get them.

Thank you,
The Montessori Staff
